If a budget has to stretch, we usually suggest protecting two things: enough days that you are not driving every morning, and a vehicle with adequate luggage space. Hotel standard is the easiest thing to flex, and in Rajasthan mid-range heritage properties are often better value than international chains.

- Keep the premium vehicle for long highway days and use a simpler one for city sightseeing.

- Can Rajasthan be travelled on a modest budget?
- Yes. The biggest cost levers are vehicle category, trip length and hotel standard — not the destinations themselves. A sedan-based five-day circuit with mid-range hotels covers the main sights comfortably.
- What is the cheapest way to travel between Rajasthan cities?
- Shared trains and state buses are cheapest, but they do not stop where the sights are. A shared chauffeur-driven sedan across a group is usually better value once you count the local transport you would otherwise need at each stop.
- Which vehicle is best value for a family of four?
- A Toyota Innova. A sedan is cheaper but tight with four adults and luggage on six-hour transfer days, and the saving rarely justifies the discomfort.

- Yes. Often by adjusting the route rather than the vehicle — cutting one long transfer out of a week saves fuel, driver time and a hotel night without losing a destination you cared about.
