How Many Days Are Enough for Rajasthan?

The distances that decide everything

Every itinerary decision in Rajasthan comes back to this table. A destination that adds a six-hour transfer costs you most of a day at each end.

• Jaipur to Ajmer and Pushkar — 135 to 145 km, 2.5 to 3 hours.
• Jaipur to Ranthambore — 160 km, 3 to 3.5 hours.
• Jaipur to Jodhpur — 335 km, 5.5 to 6 hours.
• Jaipur to Udaipur — 395 km, 6.5 to 7 hours.
• Jaipur to Jaisalmer — 560 km, 8.5 to 9.5 hours.

What each trip length gives you

• 2–3 days: Jaipur, plus Ajmer and Pushkar or a Ranthambore night.
• 4 days: Jaipur with two additions, or the Golden Triangle with Delhi and Agra.
• 5–6 days: Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur.
• 7–8 days: the classic circuit, including Jaisalmer and the desert.
• 9–10 days: the circuit plus Ranthambore and Pushkar, with no punishing driving day.
• 12–14 days: everything above plus Shekhawati and Bikaner, or Mewar and Hadoti.

The most common planning mistake

Adding a fourth or fifth city to a short trip. A five-day itinerary with four cities means four transfer mornings, four hotel check-ins and very little time inside any of them.

If you have five days and want to see more, the better move is usually to remove a city and add a day trip instead.
